I was wracking my brain trying to think of something else to write about Christmas, the Solstice, all of these mid-winter holidays… but I think I have exhausted such topics. So… I thought… what about New Years Resolutions? I mentioned it in an email thread with some online friends and one of them wrote me back with this…
Why not try a twist on NY resolutions like: things I will not do, enemies I will be kind to, things my country needs, things I will not buy, words I will try not to use, like hate etc..
It’s an interesting idea. Frankly, I’ve been trying to do things like that for some time now. And I have a much more necessary resolution to keep to this year.
Most likely, many of us have more concrete ideas about resolutions for this upcoming year. For example, 60 is just two and half years away for me and I really want to be stronger and more fit before I get there. So, I’m going to try to change a few more of my eating habits, cutting out more sugar, etc. And I’m going to get more exercise and try to increase my chi. Chi is that vital force, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, that moves through our bodies, and apparently, mine is a bit deficient. So, I’m going to try to enhance it. After all, it’s what helps to keep us healthy and vital. And I know I don’t want to enter those so-called “golden” years with less vitality than I might have. Something tells me that if I become more fit, I’ll be able to do more of the things I’d like to do, things that I sometimes lack the stamina to do now. Maybe I’d even sleep more soundly.
I sure don’t want to end up looking like Father Time, that I know!
What about the rest of you? Have you been considering any New Years Resolutions yet? Will you recycle some from last year? Nothing wrong with that… I’ve been actively working on my health for more than a decade. Some things take a bit of time, after all. I know that the New Year is still a week away, but why not give ourselves time to think of some things we would like to achieve or do or become during this next year.
