MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer, who’s substituting for the network’s usual prison video on this historic Saturday, has done yeoman’s work today. But she made a mistake just now on the air.

Contessa Brewer provided the WORST kind of misinformation to military servicemembers “If you’re gay and in the military — GO AHEAD: ASK! TELL!”

This is wrong, of course, and I hope she corrects herself soon. Gay and lesbian servicemembers should neither ASK nor TELL until the complex certification process has been completed. Despite today’s historic vote, servicemembers should be alert to command messages regarding open service.
