Palin Pal on Los Angeles Celebrity Murder Periphery
When one of my super best buds, journalist Mark Ebner showed up within minutes of gunshots at the grotty Harvey Apartments in a less fancy part of Hollywood to cover the suicide of a “person of interest” in the murder of celebrity super-publicist Ronni Chasen, he saw something really out of place in the lobby of super low-rent apartment building which houses underground economy workers, parolees, the marginally documented and the financially challenged. This guy:
Yeah, wtf?! That strip of Santa Monica has street walkers of every flavor, drug dealers, homeless, parolees, a vibrant immigrant population, cutting edge theaters, and one of the best taco trucks in Los Angeles. Studio apartments at the Harvey go for approximately $725 a month–yeah that’s low-cost in LA–which is cheaper than the SRO hotels a few blocks north in Hollywood proper which only allow for 28-day stays to comply with rental laws.
So Mark, being even nosier than me, and don’t think for an instant I wouldn’t have chatted the dude up because anyone out of place is always the most interesting story, asked the guy–after taking him over to be quizzed by the super smart investigative teevee reporter Diane Dimond about what, if anything, he saw–
What’s a guy like you and your twenty-one year old son doing at the Harvey Apartments?
Well, they were looking for a centrally located, inexpensive place to stay while the son trains as a boxer. Turns out the guy is from Alaska, and so Mark asks him the logical question: If he knows Sarah Palin.
Does a polar bear get shot from a helicopter? Damn straight he knows Sarah Palin. Knows her real well, likes her, and supports her. Because this self-proclaimed
Homophobic, red shirt, bible-thumping Nazi, gay bashing, tea-bagging racist, white guy bigot
is none other than Alaska Independence Party’s 2006 candidate for governor and ran as a 2010 candidate for lieutenant governor, conservative squawker Eddie Burke, who was briefly suspended from his radio gig in September 2008 for broadcasting the phone numbers of women involved in organizing a protest rally against Sarah Palin, after he called them maggots. His show has been off the air since March.
