Transgender Day of Remembrance in Richmond
In Richmond today, we have signs of progress. Mayor Dwight Jones issued a proclamation formally declaring today to be Transgender Day of Remembrance in our city. His proclamation notes that transgender people are disproportionally the victims of violence, and he calls upon all Richmonders to work to end hate-motivated violence.
Richmond is a welcoming city, and the capital of Virginia, which still needs work. But we're working hard, and we're making progress.
