Eric Cantor (R-VA) Should Be Impeached
Conspiring with a foreign government to undermine your own is the textbook definition of treason. Except, apparently, when you’re an American Republican and the country you’re colluding with is Israel.
Regarding the midterms, Cantor may have given Netanyahu some reason to stand firm against the American administration.
“Eric stressed that the new Republican majority will serve as a check on the Administration and what has been, up until this point, one party rule in Washington,” the readout continued. “He made clear that the Republican majority understands the special relationship between Israel and the United States, and that the security of each nation is reliant upon the other.”
The last member of Congress to be impeached was Senator William Blount in 1796. His crime? Conspiring to aid the British conquest of West Florida. And West Florida at the time wasn’t even a US territory — it was Spanish.
LBJ accused Richard Nixon of treason when he found out that the Nixon camp thwarted peace talks that would’ve ended the Vietnam War. So how is this any different? The fact that Cantor did this out in the open — then bragged about it — is not only offensive, it’s unprecedented. By Cantor’s own standard, he’s committed a felony.
If the Democrats are ever going to get themselves off the mat, they need to pick a fight. And this is a fight worth picking. The right-wing’s slavish loyalty to Israel Right Or Wrong is a destructive cancer on our politics, and has been for decades. It’s time to call them on it, and this is a perfect opportunity.
I say, impeach the traitorous little son of a bitch.
