The Right Reverand Gene Robinson is the Episcopal Bishop of New Hamshire and is the first openly gay, non-celibate person to become a bishop in any Christian denomination. His election to the episcopacy in 2003 sparked a schism in the Episcopal Church and much controversy in the Anglican Communion over what role, if any, gay people should be allowed in the priesthood.

If anyone knows about being a target of hate, and how things do get better, it would be this man.
