Rayne has been doing an excellent series on the past, present, and future of the "Angry Left". It’s core curriculum material for FDL/Seminal readers. In loose conjunction, here’s a short and unscientific poll I’d like you all to take:

1. Which of the following best describes your relationship with the Democratic Party?

(A) Card-carrying Democrat, through thick and thin.

(B) Generally supportive, but a little upset about the last two years – although I will still vote for Democrats this fall.

(C) Formerly a supporter, but feel quite betrayed by the last two years – and will probably never vote for them again unless they seriously change their ways.

(D) Have always rebelled against the two-party system and see the last two years as confirmation that they are sell-outs.

(E) The Democrats are socialists.

2. When you hear the phrase "third party," you think:

(A) Yes! It’s about time progressives had a true voice in politics.

(B) I’ll consider it, but probably won’t support one because it’ll never work.
