Federal appeals court rules FCC’s indecency policy too vague
Leave it to Bono.
“We now hold that the FCC's policy violates the First Amendment because it is unconstitutionally vague, creating a chilling effect that goes far beyond the fleeting expletives at issue here,” the panel of appeals court judges said in a written ruling on Tuesday.
ABC, CBS, Faux and NBC cheered the decision.
The case stemmed from Bono's used of an expletive during the 2003 Golden Globe awards, which resulted in a fine for the network that aired the event.
Look for the airwaves to be a bit more saucy!!
