Apologies for not reporting this sooner; this weekend has been a tad distracting.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Alex is off the northwest corner of the Yucatan Peninnsula, heading in a northwest direction towards Texas. It is predicted to reach hurricane strength by Thursday as it approaches the Mexico-Texas border. The storm should pass well west of the oil; even so, heavy winds and choppy surf will almost certainly wreak havoc as sludge on the surface of the water is broken up and forced onto beaches.

The Associated Press via Yahoo News is reporting that the storm should not interrupt BP’s efforts to contain the spill or efforts to drill the relief well.
