PA Sen: Sestak to Win? Leads Specter by Nine Points in New Poll

With Pennsylvania’s May 18 primary fast approaching, more and more signs indicate a come-from-behind Joe Sestak victory over incumbent Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter. That latest Suffolk poll now has Rep. Sestak (D-PA 7) up by nine points among likely voters. This is the most positive poll result for Sestak so far:

Sestak 49%
Specter 40%

Another hint that political insiders think Sestak is surging in the final days is that Capitol consultants, government guns-for-hire, Beltway bloviators and federal frontrunners like Lanny Davis are now lining up behind him. Not something you expect to see five days before an election unless Sestak had a decent shot at winning.

Another powerful argument that Sestak can take into the final stretch is electability. The lastest Quinnipiac poll has Sestak in a virtual dead heat with likely Republican nominee Pat Toomey, while Specter is seven points behind Toomey:

Sestak 40%
Toomey 42%

Specter 40%
Toomey 47%
