GUANTANAMO BAY — Any second I’m about to run out to tour the detention facilities here. But check out this post on an apparently-emerging concept in military academic circles called DIME, for Diplomacy/Information/Military/Economics, about how to measure a country’s geopolitical heft. Or so I gather from the post, I’m not clear about precisely what this is supposed to measure. Something else I don’t understand is why information influence is more important than cultural influence — at least if I understand the concept correctly. If I do, then I suspect that the military’s predilection for elegant acronyms is doing more damage to clear thinking than PowerPoint is.
