I had recently decided to get Google e-mail news alerts regarding the Proposition 8 Marriage Trial here in California. Well, I got this article in my e-mail today.

Apparently Imperial County decided to make a motion to become a defendant/intervenor in the case on December 15. What is their claim? “…county’s purpose is to 'protect (the county’s) interests as a local government agency and ensure the possibility of appellate review'.”

So my question is, how would the county's “interests” be protected if Proposition 8 were to be overturned by the court? The evidence showed that there are great economic benefits for local governments as well as private businesses when marriage equality becomes a reality. Therefore, the evidence completely contradicts what the county is claiming.
