Ben Bernanke, who helped preside over the collapse of the American economy, was confirmed to a second term as Federal Reserve Chairman so he can continue to destroy the economy. The re-confirmation vote was seventy to thirty, with most senators moving to kill a filibuster seventy-seven to twenty-three.

On a second vote, to confirm, the 30 dissents came from 18 Republicans, 11 Democrats and one independent, Bernard Sanders of Vermont.

Each and every single Democrat who voted to confirm Bernanke and who is up for re-election this year must be voted out of office. Each and every Democrat who voted to confirm Bernanke and who is up for re-election in 2012 should face removal as well.

The tally on cloture is here.

I am sorely disappointed that senators Sherrod Brown and Al Franken failed to support a filibuster. Bernanke is a vile cretin who delights in screwing over the public just so he can further enrich himself and his wealthy friends. He should be doing life in prison without parole, but he now has another four years to wreck the economy. To find out how your senator voted on confirmation, click here. Disgustingly enough, my own senator, Sherrod Brown, voted to confirm. He has lost my vote in 2012.

At what point will We the People grow so sick of this old boys’ club that we rise up at the polls and vote out both Republicans and Democrats? Because we’ll never see real change as long as the far right dominates both major political parties.

Now is the time to start building up that third party we on the true left always go on about but never seem to get around to actually working on. If not now, then never. So what the hell are we waiting for?
