For Haiti, Again

Haiti’s prime minister, Jean-Max Bellerive, told CNN that hundreds of thousands of people died in or from the earthquake. Haiti’s population is estimated at a little less than 10 million. Try to imagine the scale of this catastrophe.

Update: The new estimate appears to be tens of thousands, not hundreds. This isn’t good news. It’s nightmarish news. But I thought I should update.
