John Yoo To Appear On The Daily Show Monday

Jon Stewart has had a wide variety of conservatives on his show – John Bolton, Tom Ridge, Newt Gingrich, and Mike Huckabee spring immediately to mind. But I wasn’t prepared for this:

Former Department of Justice official and torture memo author John Yoo will be on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Monday to promote his new book, according to the show’s website.

That’s going to be… well… interesting. I imagine the Web version of the interview will last 3 1/2 hours, James Lipton-style.

This is a good time to mention, in case any Daily Show staffers are reading, that the Office of Professional Responsibility report that was supposed to detail the conduct of Bush’s lawyers in guiding torture policy, promised by the Department of Justice back in November, has still not been released. At the same time, the Obama Justice Department is defending Yoo from efforts to hold him responsible for the torture of Jose Padilla. Some believe the two are related. It’s a possible line of questioning.
