Iraq Spokesman: Get Every Blackwater Employee Out Of This Country

Ali al-Dabbagh, the spokesman for the Iraqi government, has a clear message for any current or former employees of Blackwater: stay out of Iraq.

The Iraqi government is actively pursuing any former Blackwater personnel still working in the country, spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told CNN in an interview Sunday.

“I don’t think [the] Iraqi government is willing to have any Blackwater member, even if they are working in other companies, we don’t like to see them here working in any company,” al-Dabbagh said. “Instructions have been given to check if there is any Blackwater member [in the country]. I advise him to leave Iraq and not to stay in Iraq anymore.”

Many Blackwater mercenaries simply changed uniforms when the company lost contracts in Iraq, moving to other firms to do security work. Al-Dabbagh seems to be saying that they will be rooted out and asked to leave the country. He also said that the government of Iraq plans to sue the five security guards who just had their trial for murdering 17 innocent Iraqis in the 2007 Nissour Square massacre thrown out of court. Al-Dabbagh said Iraq wants the Justice Department to appeal the ruling by a federal judge.

The judge, Ricardo Urbina, ruled that compelled statements were used against the Blackwater guards, violating their Constitutional rights.
