Late yesterday, we heard floated a combination of ideas that sounded like an actual compromise on the issue of the public option. This grand compromise was a very similar but weaker version of an idea I floated several months ago.
But we quickly learned today that Snowe is not happy with the Medicare buy-in. The Medicaid expansion is out even though it saves money. The Medicare buy-in could be designed to be worthless and all the rumors point to get being quickly turned into a temporary stopgap, expensive, extremely limited, not really Medicare nothingness.
This is why Jane does not jump around like a pet monkey.
So much for Obama’s “I will fix it in conference.”
The Ben Nelson Stupak amendment was tabled in the Senate today.
The One Voice for Choice campaign is going very well.
There is some hope they might use that stupid OPM exchange idea to slightly fix another huge problem with the bill.
