What about global LGBT oppression?
Politico reports that President Obama will be appointing a “special envoy to monitor and combat global anti-Semitism.” While I think that's a terrific idea, I can't help but wonder why global anti-Semitism merits a special envoy but global homophobia and anti-trans oppression doesn't. It doesn't strike me as any less extensive a problem, given some of the horrendous practices around the world and the failure of existing human rights conventions to address it. Does the Party think it is a less important problem?
