Before I get into upcoming events, I want to let everyone know about this interfaith rally to Approve Referendum 71 last weekend at the West Seattle Farmer’s Market.  The Approve 71 campaign has TONS of support from religious leaders, congregations and organizations.  Don’t let the opposition get away with pretending they are the voice of the religious community in Washington state.  They are not.  People of faith, Lift every voice and sing.  And don’t forget to hold a sign while doing so. 🙂

Vancouver

* Saturday, 10a.  This is our main confirmed doorbelling event. Help us to walk and distribute almost 3000 “door hangers” to assure a good voter turnout.  Numbers and projections show that if Approve 71 can generate significant turnout, especially among younger voters, informed seniors and women, Referendum 71 will pass.

Seattle

* Saturday, 11:30a.  Join us as we go door to door talking to Capitol Hill voters about the Approve 71 Campaign. Voters will have their ballots in hand and now is the best time to get them to vote APPROVE and mail them off.

The Seattle office especially needs more afternoon and Friday night volunteers.

* Monday through Friday, 6p to 9p at the Equal Rights Washington office at 720 7th Ave.

* Friday bonus!  This Friday, Oct 23, we will be phone banking with the president of GLAAD, Jarrett Barrios at the UFCW Union Hall from 5p to 8p.

* Saturday, 11a, 2p (2 shifts) at the UFCW Union Hall at 5030 1st Ave. South.

* Sunday, Phone Bank with GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios

Sunday, 10a at the UFCW 21 Main Office. We need volunteers to help us call voters and educate them on the importance of APPROVING Referendum 71 in order to retain the domestic partnership law.

Folks, be sure to print out and fill your pockets with plenty of palm cards to give to people.  This is a great reminder for people when they get home and start wondering, “now what was that all about, and how can I get more information?”

Bellevue Public Interfaith Witness for Referenum 71

Friends, I write to let you know of an interfaith and inter-generational event to support the effort to approve Referendum 71.  The Youth Pastor at the East Shore Unitarian Church planned the event and is asking people from all area faith groups to join him.  The event takes place this Sunday at 12:30 pm and meets at East Shore Unitarian Church in Bellevue (12700 SE 32nd St).  The event will start with possibly some singing and personal testimonies and then participants will move to various intersections in Factoria to rally and show their support for approving Referendum 71.  Participants are encouraged to bring signs and the event is expected to last for an hour to an hour and a half.

Many of you were very upset at the sight of 100 people waving “Reject 71” signs up in Lynnwood. Now’s your chance to show them what WE are capable of!

We’re at the final stage of the Approve 71 campaign – when we pound on people day after day, hour after hour, & remind them to vote! Ever needed a friendly reminder? We’re about to give 100,000 people in the urban core of progressive Seattle during rush hour traffic one huge reminder – DON’T FORGET TO VOTE and APPROVE 71!

Listed below is the schedule and the places we’ll be doing this starting this Friday, 10/23. Feel free to come for only a half hour, come earlier, stay later, come on weekends, or do it anywhere else.

Whether we cover these areas & times on some days or all of them, the choice is entirely up to the persons on this list! First please indicate “Attend” then write on the Wall which days, times, and places you’re interested in or send me a separate message.
