We wrote recently about Liskula Cohen’s secret enemy, an anonymous blogger, who was outed by Google to Cohen as a result of legal pressure. Nasty as the blogger was, it did raise some questions about the right to free expression.
The issue got even more complicated recently as the identity of the blogger was revealed to be Rosemary Port, a “pretty 29-year-old Fashion Institute of Technology student,” as per the New York Daily News, which broke the story.
In her interview she said, “When I was being defended by attorneys for Google, I thought my right to privacy was being protected. But that right fell through the cracks. Without any warning, I was put on a silver platter for the press to attack me.”
So naturally, Port is getting back at Google.
A blogger who was outed by Google for anonymously labeling a model a ‘ho’ and a ‘skank’ says she will sue the firm for $15m.
Google was forced by a court order to reveal the identity of Rosemary Port after the blogger was sued by model Liskula Cohen for branding her an ‘old hag.’
Cohen took Google to court in a bid to find out the name of the person who had penned a series of hateful messages about her.
Now 29-year-old student Port says she is taking action against Internet giant Google, alleging they breached their duty to protect her identity.
Oh boy. So for the record, let me make my position on this issue VERY CLEAR INDEED… 😉
