Arthur Laffer, the economist of Laffer Curve fame, recently came out with the comment "[J]ust wait till you see Medicare, Medicaid … done by the government" on CNN. http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200908040014

At first, I thought he was ignorant, but I believe it was a more insidious comment. He obviously knows that Medicare and Medicaid are government programs and generally popular. He is playing into the ignorance of his right wing base, riling them up and distorting the argument. Unfortunately, the pro Obama speaker and the moderator failed to pick up on his obvious lie.
