Guess who’s getting in on the act of blocking gay-friendly sites…….
…….We all remember the suit involving the ACLU and the Knox County Schools and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools for blocking students from accessing gay-friendly sites, right? Well guess who is getting in on the same action, FedEx/Kinkos.
Yep, you read that right. Apparently Julie Phineas went into a FedEx Kinkos store in Torance, CA seeking to print out a document from The Gay Ad Network, and they had the word gay blocked. She requested the clerk to override the block. The clerk told Phineas that she “would not be able to look at that stuff here.”
Phineas goes and shows the clerk an e-mail that she received to prove that there would be no adult content accessed. The clerk still refused stating that because the word “gay” was included, then it would be filtered and that she still wouldn't be able to grant her access.
Time for a call to action to get them to change their filtering policy? If you think so, the number to contact is 1-800-Go-FedEx.
