Majority Leader Harry Reid defends his effort to pass the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act on the floor of the Senate. Earlier Wednesday, Senator John McCain criticized Reid’s introduction of the legislation. Reid responds by pointing to previous efforts to pass this important hate crimes bill – noting that the current legislation has been introduced in a manner frequently used by Senate colleagues including McCain.
