Okay, yes I am being sexist. And if a man wrote the same headline, I would still laugh.

Palin is up to more that playing with the dirt and fish scales under her nails as she goes on about in her faux-folksy facade to NBC’s Andrea Mitchell. Some people are thinking that with Palin saying she most likely won’t run for President, or at least hedging a bunch about her plans, she’s knocked the spine out of the Elephants, leaving no real viable GOP candidates (was there ever one for 2012?).

But in reality, she’s in fine form to be a super-charged  fund raising Energizer Bunny machine for candidates in 2010 and beyond, and basically admits it to Anchorage Daily News:

Palin said she is embarking on a "different, more effective path" than finishing her term. Asked how, she said she didn’t know at this point, other than to campaign for political candidates who represent the values she supports.

"Work hard for others who want to fight for things that Alaska needs and America needs. … What is good for Alaska, energy independence, our contribution to national security and reining in our own state government, which contributes to reining in our national government, which is what we need. I can do that outside having a title," she said.

She also spelled in out in her "Don’t Cry For Me, Alaska" speech:

I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and life… I’ll work for and campaign for those proud to be American, and those who are inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.

I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.

Over at Theopalinism.com, Leah Burton has parsed Palin’s higher calling:

She is not kidding when she states that she is not retreating – but advancing.  Once the decision was made by herself and other contributors to her decision as to how to best utilize Palin’s extraordinary popularity to advance the power and resurgence of the GOP, resignation was the ONLY option that makes sense for the following reasons – because she is now free to traverse this country unencumbered by official duties AND:

  1. Excite and ignite her base – a base broader than that solely of the GOP, bringing together extremists, Libertarians, Constitution Party members as well as GOP loyalists – all under one umbrella in a way that no other republican candidate has been able to achieve to date;
  2. Because of her “rock star” popularity she is an invaluable asset to the floundering Republican Party as a fundraiser for the GOP (whether Mitt, Newt, Huckabee or any of the rest of the presidential hopefuls care to admit it through clenched teeth);
  3. They can capitalize on her ability to generate untold numbers of evangelical extremists to register to vote significantly increasing the likelihood for success in local and national elections;
  4. And, while everyone debates over “will she/won’t she” regarding 2012, the GOP strategists are winding her up to let her go on the 2010 campaign trail in an all out effort to dominate local, state and congressional seats – by riling the masses into a pitched fervor through propaganda over Obama = Bad! Using all the scare tactics and fear-mongering popular in GOP campaigns such as Muslim, socialism, debt, non-aggressive defense posture, and the terrorism threat to the safety of our country;
  5. And THEN lastly, it does give her time to consult with the religious ghost-writer assigned from Zondervan [Christian] Publishing to meet her contract obligation for her upcoming book release in Spring of 2010…which is an incredible tool that will have tremendous impact on growing her followers when she does in fact, decide to throw her harpoon into the presidential race of -2012.

 And the GOP is thrilled to have a combo Wunderboner–designed to disembowel the Democrats by being able to pull the chick card like she did with David Letterman, hiding behind the Holy Skirted Sanctity of American Womanhood (and like, I’ve noticed that liberals/progressives are sensitive about sexism and racism, unlike say Rush Limbaugh)–and a cash cow who can whip crowds from across the full spectrum of the conservatives into a pitchfork-carrying, torch-waving frenzy and get them to open their wallets.
