Washington Eagle Forum, a local subsidiary of Phyllis Schlafly‘s organization, is promoting the anti-family Referendum 71 using violent terminology.

The recent hostile acts of redefining marriage by our state legislators and Governor Gregoire is what has set the stage for Referendum 71.  They carefully crafted and passed a bill using the guise of domestic partnerships, but revealed their true intent by infusing the phrase “marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships” 180 times throughout the bill.

This assault on marriage in Washington State will not go unanswered.

It is downright un-American to characterize the deliberative actions of a duly elected legislature and governor as “hostile” and an “assault” when those actions are to secure the equal protection of the law for all citizens, as per Amendment 14 of the United State Constitution.  Haven’t we learned yet that inflammatory language kills?Other members of the Referendum 71 promotional team are also fond of using terrorist trigger terms.  Youth With A Mission/USRenewal leader Ron Boehme comes to mind first and foremost.  Recall that in his purported lament over the assassination of Dr. Tiller, Boehme saw fit to repeat the terms “satanic”, “murderer”, “baby killer” and “mass murderers”.

Boehme and Washington Eagle Forum director Cindy Honcoop are also promoting the Family Research Council’s cult-like “Call 2 Fall“, which tells people that God will answer their prayers if only they submit to Him by literally getting on their knees for 3 minutes on 7/5/2009, then redefines submission as pursuing political action as outlined by FRC’s Tony Perkins.  Perkins has links to the Ku Klux Klan.  Honcoop’s promotional Call 2 Fall materials agitate followers with belligerent exhortations to “publicly denounce, withstand & defeat officials who despoil our Godly heritage or defy God’s eternal law by their public actions or private behavior” with threats of “lest we be overtaken by wicked ideologies & fall prey to the control of profane & depraved men.” Boehme’s Call 2 Fall blogs talk of “a demonic network of evil that is enticing individuals and nations to do what is wrong and reject their God-given consciences” that “should be rejected at all cost“.

These are not the words of peace-loving and compassionate people.  Anyone choosing to associate with Referendum 71 needs to understand the dark nature of the campaigners they are joining.
