Nevada’s State Assembly last night voted to overturn Gov Jim Gibbons veto of domestic partnerships, thus giving same sex couples in Nevada most of the rights granted in opposite marriage under state law. No rights available under federal law are granted by same sex marriage, civil union or domestic partnership, which is BS. And until federal marriage rights are granted for all civil marriages/unions/domestic partnerships, the argument "But they’re the same" holds no effing water.
Guess those famous Las Vegas weddings will see an upswing in business after October 1 when the law goes into effect–the 24-hours chapels are closing at midnight now because of the the economic downturn, though you can still get a drive-though ceremony at Little White Chapel .
