Mini-skirted Palin Gives a Leg Up to Families of Fallen Soldiers

memoriallegs.thumbnail.jpgOn Monday the state of Alaska held their Decoration of Honor Ceremony, a very special event honoring all of the state’s fallen troops in every war. Alaskan radio personality/journalist Shannyn Moore was invited and reports:

The Alaska Decoration of Honor was created to recognize the Alaskan service members who have been killed in action or in support of combat. The medal is awarded on behalf of the people of the State of Alaska to show our gratitude to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in serving our state and nation.

The USAF Band of the Pacific played. The US Military Color Guard presented flags from all branches of service. The Discovery Theater was packed with families of the last 50 years of Alaska’s fallen soldiers. Their loss was palpable. Their pride was present. Their tears were flowing. The Generals were solemn.

There was also a guest who showed up at the last minute, Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin who had been invited but despite several months notice couldn’t commit to be at the ceremony until the morning of the event. Organizers had given her a deadline, but she ignored it, and thus wasn’t listed on the program.

According to Moore,

Palin insisted she be sat on stage and demanded time for a speech. She spoke before the invocation and flag presentation as to not be “off program.”  It was certainly appropriate for the governor to speak at such a high level ceremony, but her high level maintenance made it difficult for those that planned it.

Okay, all of this can be blamed as usual on staff miscommunication, Palin’s typical fallback excuse, but the who the hell thought it was appropropriate for Gov GILF to show up in a mini skirt so short, Moore says

One side of the auditorium was waiting for “Basic Instinct” shot, Alaska style.

I looked at the picture (above) and the skirt covers less than half her thighs and is paired with open-toed heels, all in all very inapropriate for a sombre, solomn occasion, especially when coupled with her last minute arrival.

Palin’s lack of communication, dismissive attitude and poor choice of attire are just more straws added to the elephant’s back: The GOP should not promote her for any Federal office, let alone the Presidency.
