I have been making a concerted effort to step away from following the ins and outs of politics on a micro daily schedule since it accomplishes nothing but to increase my blood pressure and as much as I think I can make a difference I need to step back and tell myself I really don’t possess that power.
So now I will concentrate on a few things that have brightened my daily world. 1. My 26 year old daughter who has Asperger’s Syndrome (on the Austism scale) has been working part time and making huge strides in her social interactions. She is accomplishing things I never thought she would and she is improving everyday.
2. My son just acquired his Associate’s of Science degree and is continuing to his bachelor’s. This comes after a straight A, call it in student in younger years decided that smart wasn’t cool and totally blew the high school years. Now he is Phi Theta Kappa and rocking a near 4.0 GPA.
3. My 84 year old father, who worked an extra job umpiring schoolboy baseball when he was teaching high school, got pressed into service to umpire a Babe Ruth baseball game on Friday night when the umps didn’t show up. He called balls and strikes from behind the pitcher as well as all the field calls. And he did a damn fine job!
We celebrate what we can.
