Bats Day: Goths Take Over Disneyland. And Yes, They Vote

For over decade, black-clad minions of the dark side have floated into Disneyland to celebrate Bats Day in the Fun Park, aka Goth Day at Disneyland. Originally started with about 40 people, the event has grown into huge event with over 5,000 Goths of all types from across the country–steam punks, industrial, vampires, witches, doom’n’glooms, Elegant Gothic Lolitas–dressed in their finest and/or their everyday outfits. From corsets to PVC, tee shirts to frock coats, every manner of frippery and funereal garb is on display as attendees discuss hearse maintenance, homeschooling (it’s not just for wingnuts any more), dressmaking, Disney characters and of course, the newest 85+SPF sublock. img_0495.thumbnail.JPGimg_0490.thumbnail.JPG

Goth families including baby bats and grandgoths ride the rides, pose for photos and generally confuse the "regular" park guests who ask things like

How did you all know to wear black today?

Aren’t you hot in that?

An unscientific poll I conducted showed everyone eligible to vote did; 1 in 13 Goths voted Republican and 100% support same sex marriage, even the Republican.
