Apparently celebrity blogger Hilton got a recent promotion.

What? You hadn’t heard about this yet? The source of this remarkable news broke the story in a “FoxNews Exclusive” (TM) yesterday:

In an exclusive interview with’s Courtney Friel, Miss California says her phone has been ringing off the hook with people offering her support after she took on a question about gay marriage on Sunday night’s Miss USA telecast.

“I have no regrets about answering judge Perez Hilton honestly,” she said in one of her first interviews following the show, where she answered that she was against gay marriage becoming legal in California. “He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him. I have nothing against gay people and I didn’t mean to offend anyone in my answer.” How are you feeling today?

Carrie Prejean: Honestly, happy. This happened for a reason. By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith. I’m glad I stayed true to myself. Did your stomach sink when you first heard you picked Perez Hilton’s question?

Carrie Prejean: I had a gut feeling. I knew he was controversial, and so was the question. Out of all the topics I studied up on, I dreaded that one, I prayed I would not be asked about gay marriage. If I had any other question, I know I would have won. Did you think right away your answer may have killed your chances of winning?

Carrie Prejean: Yeah, I thought I was going to be 4th runner up for sure. I was surprised I made it to first runner up! Are you upset that Perez Hilton called you a “b**ch” in his blog rant?

Carrie Prejean: Yes, but I have no regrets about answering honestly. He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him. I have nothing against gay people, and I didn’t mean to offend anyone in my answer.

So lemme understand this: she studied up in advance for the “gay marriage” question? Yet still claims that this was a “test of her faith”?

Never knew there were celestial crib notes or “Faith For Dummies” that one could study! As they say, God works in mysterious ways.

Or was that Bono and U2? ūüėČ

Never mind… more below.

But to follow up on the “Fox News Exclusive” (TM), as it failed to report that Miss California Carrie Prejean’s sister, a 2nd Lt in the Air Force, is a gay rights activist.

But “her sister is NOT gay- just supports gay rights”. Wasn’t THE SISTER raised with the same “family values”??

This morning, NBC’s Today scored interviews with Monsignor Perez via videophone and had Carrie Prejean live to talk with Meredith (natch). (9:15 am- they are both gonna appear on MSNBC in a minute as well)

9:25- Carrie Prejean says “she’s going to PRAY FOR HIM…”

Here’s a clip of the story the Today Show teased as “Beauty and the Blogger”:

Let’s have some reaction now.

First, we have this from Daddy Dobson’s camp. They are quite unhappy with Monsignor Perez and say that the “pagent controversy highlights intolerance”.

How can that be? Monsignor Perez is an “Instrument of God”- Carrie Prejean said so!

I am so confused…

Then there is this extremely precise, helpful and perfectly written TERRIBLE post from GoodAsYou, denouncing Monsignor Perez’s important and divinely given role as “Faith Audio Test Helper Extraordinaire And   Deliverer”!

Hey Perez: You’re really not helping here, buddy!

It’s annoying when young people take a stand for inequality.

But when that happens, we need people who will go on the national media and ably tell America why it’s wrong to deny others their civil freedom.

We need people who are truly schooled on the issues, and who can clearly parse a fact-filled response that cuts through the expressed fallacies.

We need to talk to the movable middle, which possibly even includes the person who espoused the short-sighted views.

We need to make positive media connections, so that this doesn’t devolve into a zero sum game in which the teaching team’s surrogate completely forfeits the teachable moment.

We don’t need people who will just write her off as a “dumb b****,” then further (and more misogynistically) state that he’d rather have called her the “c word”:

He most certainly does not speak for us.

Sigh… no wonder God is so displeased. So many of His Children are confused and do not truly understand His intent and His very, very, VERY “Mysterious Ways”!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Seriously, though- Perez Hilton and those of his ilk cannot be allowed to become the public faces of “gay marriage” to mainstream, middle of the road America.

Unless there is a widespread denunciation of his mysogeny, of his own intolerance, have no doubt that those who oppose LGBTQ rights WILL USE THIS INCIDENT.

I guarantee the usual suspects are gathering their info and getting prepared to use this as a “reason” why equal/ same gender marriage should not occur.

Wait for it- brace for it- and plan on strategies to fight the next wave of hate.
