Feingold sees chance to restore stability in Somalia

Washington – Somalia poses a growing threat to U.S. national security but the Obama administration can try to help restore stability to the region through new, strategic policies that address the many challenges facing the east African nation, Sen. Russ Feingold said Tuesday in a speech before the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Somalia has been buffeted by turmoil and factional fighting since the early 1990s. Recently, international observers have grown increasingly concerned about ties between Islamist insurgents in the country and the terrorist network al-Qaida.[…]
