Sylvester: You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)

Lord have mercy, who could ever forget the real queen of disco, Sylvester. He is missed. The top one is a live performance of the song. The video has fabulous costume changes and serious diva action (and some inept, rhythmless dancers – so over the top 70s!). There’s also a live performance here.

The Emotions – The Best of My Love

It was a joy to see/hear this feel-good classic used in the opening sequence of Boogie Nights.

OK, fast forward a bit to 2001 and pop in the CD for ally Ms. Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair.” Produced by Dr. Dre.

Up to the download age — Maroon 5 and “Makes Me Wonder” (2007)…I think I like this song because it does sound like a throwback to an earlier era of dance music.

I have to add one funny comment that I saw about this video on YouTube (you can’t embed it, so I snared it from DailyMotion). Someone was remarking how cute lead singer Adam Levine is in the vid, and the response of one commenter was a howler:

Could it just be that he looks good because he hired those two cavemen off the geico commercials as his guitarists?

Watch the video with that in mind.
