Why Does Rush Limbaugh Hate America?

limbaugh.thumbnail.jpgAs you may be aware, the U.S. is in a bit of a pickle at the moment.  Infrastructure crumbling, bureaucracy rotting, economy tanking, Big Three auto companies teetering, Iraq and Afghanistan simmering.  If there’s one thing everyone can agree on regardless of ideology, it’s that we want to turn this mess around, right?  Well, everyone except Rush…

Liberalism is our problem.  Liberalism is what’s gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here.  Why do I want more of it?  I don’t care what the Drive-By story is.  I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails."  Somebody’s gotta say it.

I’m happy to be the last man standing.  I’m honored to be the last man standing.  Yeah, I’m the true maverick.  I can do more than four words.  I could say I hope he fails and I could do a brief explanation of why.  You know, I want to win.  If my party doesn’t, I do.

So there you have it.  In addition to inexplicably blaming "liberalism" for everything Dubya fucked up, Rush wants more American companies to go out of business, more American workers to lose their jobs, more American troops to die, maybe even more 9/11s and Katrinas, just so Republicans can win the next election and perpetuate the cycle of fail.  Now that’s what I call patriotism.

Of course, Rush claims that this is only fair because us liberals wanted Bush to fail, but that’s a lie.  Most of us would have been perfectly happy to see Bush succeed; we just couldn’t pretend that he was successful at anything other than turning obviously bad ideas into disastrous reality – also known as "failing".  (I might also mention that thanks to the Godless hippie liberal Clinton, Dubya had leeway to fail a little bit without destroying the country, but failure is like potato chips for some people.)

We didn’t want the towers to fall, we didn’t want New Orleans to drown, we didn’t want the economy to implode.  And while we certainly didn’t want to invade Iraq (and, some of us, Afghanistan), once we were stuck there we would have loved nothing more than to see democracy bloom among the flowers and candy trees.  But we knew that was a neocon pipe dream, and we were proved fucking right.

No, us liberals didn’t want Bush to fail, we simply recognized his fail accompli.  What we wanted was for Bush and his enablers to stop failing, admit their failures, and be held accountable for them.  One down, two to go.
