Hearing Date Set for Yes On H8's "Hide the Donors!" lawsuit
As you may recall, Yes On 8 is trying to get CA law changed so that the names of contributors to political campaigns are confidential. This despite the fact that they made ample use of the public list in their efforts to shame-blackmail NO on Prop 8 contributors.
The first hearing in the case is set for Jan 26th at 10:00 a.m in Courtroom #7 on the 14th floor of the Federal Building, 501 I Street in Sacramento.
Let us remember together what Yes On 8 said in their extortion letters to NO on Prop 8 contributors (whose names they got from the very public lists their lawsuit seeks to bury)
We respectfully request that [Company Name] withdraw its support of Equality California. . . . Were you to elect not to donate [to Yes on 8] comparably, it would be a clear indication that you are in opposition to traditional marriage. . . . The names of any companies that choose not to donate in like manner to Protectmarriage.com but have given to Equality California will be published. It is only fair for Proposition 8 supporters to know which companies and organizations oppose traditional marriage.
