Yesterday I posted that I was trying really, really hard to not look at Tuesday's election results as “bittersweet”. Unfortunately I can sense a bitter taste growing on my palate. Today our President-Elect, a man to whom I gave somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 hours of my life over the past few months, has launched his Presidential website, change.gov. The site itself is amazing, detailing the transition plans, information about the inauguration and eventually profiles of not only Obama and Biden, but of the entire cabinet. The site also clearly delineates Obama's entire agenda for the nation, roughly 150 different policy aims and issue positions, essentially the goals of his presidency. Nowhere in the President Elect's agenda will one find a mention of LGBT or gay anything, the closest he comes is under the Civil Rights heading. There you will find an agenda item under hate crimes urging the passage of the Matthew Shepherd Act.
I didn't devote my time because I expected anything in return personally, and I still feel proud of what we accomplished in Ohio, both for our nation and the world, but I have to admit, I am feeling mighty left out today.
