Equal Rights Protests in Los Angeles

Over 1000  protesters in West Hollywood, upset over the passage of Prop 8 took to the streets chanting "Equal Rights."  Around midnight, while several hundred stayed in WeHo, one large group marched east along Santa Monica Blvd and another along Sunset Bvd, then up to Hollywood and Highland Blvds where a protester was arrested when he jumped on a squad car, and several others were detained. Overall the fabulous mob was peaceful as LAPD turned them back into West Hollywood. Tactical alerts were issud in both Los Angeles and West Hollywood, but really weren’t necessary.  Said local activist Angry Gay Pope, who called in from the center of crowd in WeHo:

It’s like a party, except for the police on the corner.
