Ted Stevens Asks to Skip Corruption Trial to Give Billions to Corporations
Sen. Ted Stevens asked to be excused periodically from his corruption trial in order to address the current financial meltdown.
Stevens is on trial for accepting $250,000 in home repairs and other undeclared goodies from a major corporation in exchange for legislative favors for said corporation. Now, he’s asking to be excused from his corruption trial to help draft a multi-billion dollar corporate give-away.
The judge says Stevens can skip out from time to time, but he won’t tell the jury where the Senator is going.
