Neither religious groups nor gay marriage supporters should try to impose their beliefs on others

“In short, civil libertarians not only want to permit gay marriage, but they want to make it mandatory.”

That is one of the core arguments of opponents to same-sex marriage. It is a false argument by them and by him. The biggest battle is in California (Proposition 8). There is NOTHING that precludes a church or synagogue from exercising its religious discretion. Suggesting otherwise is not only false but inflammatory. Moreover,he fails to identify exactly which “civil libertarians” have expressed this point of view?
