Oh my freaking god!  What is this world coming to when our celebrities have to ground their private jets and fly on *gasp* commercial airlines!

Sean “Diddy” Combs complained about the “… too high” price of gas and pleaded for free oil from his “Saudi Arabia brothers and sisters” in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. The hip-hop mogul said he is now flying on commercial airlines instead of in private jets, which Combs said had previously cost him $200,000 and up for a roundtrip between New York and Los Angeles.

I’m actually flying commercial,” Diddy said before walking onto an airplane, sitting in a first-class seat and flashing his boarding pass to the camera. “That’s how high gas prices are. I’m at the gate right now. This is really happening, proof gas prices are too high. Tell whoever the next president is we need to bring gas prices down.”

Okay Diddy.  We’ll be sure to tell “whoever the next president is” to take it down a couple notches so you can get back to the luxury of privately chartered cross-country flights.  What do these celebrities have to endure before we finally take notice of their plight and start to take action?  Canned caviar?  A shortage of Cristal?

Frankly, I find this to be extraordinarily vapid and terribly arrogant, especially coming from a man who was heavily involved with Rock the Vote just a few short years ago.  That being said, this should be a reminder that there are those out there with celebrity and fame who actually can make a difference in how people view this election and its relevant issues.  Diddy apparently feels some kind of a “crunch”–laughable as it may be to those of us who are struggling just to put a tank of gas in the car once a week.

It’s clear to us as to just who among our major party candidates has the better plan to deal with rising fuel costs and the emerging energy crisis, but it’s probably not so obvious to those who live (quite literally) with their heads in the clouds.  Diddy’s management company’s contact information can be found here.  If you have a moment to spare today, take the time to let Diddy know exactly what he can and should be doing to let his fans and supporters know that they can make a difference by voting for Sens. Obama & Biden this November.
