The AFA, in their latest whine, now accuse the government of abusing tax dollars by creating a website that promotes sex, homosexuality, and abortion for teens. Planned Parenthood’s new site, Take care down there.org is an educational site trying to relate to teens in order to promote respect for their bodies and education for their minds. The fundie response is predictable, talking about sex is WRONG! and can only lead to perverted thoughts and actions. No, knowledge is a good thing, AFA. Maybe not for you and your endless supply of ignorant donations, but the time has come to expose your tainted line of thought, and promote knowledge and responsibility to all. Since abstinence only is taught in many schools, this type of site is absolutely necessary to inform teens who otherwise have no other access to this important and life altering information. How can a group calling itself American Family Association be so against educating their children about such an important subject???
The AFA’s take on the site…
A new Planned Parenthood promotional Web site Take care down there.org, which targets youth and is called “Take Care Down There,” features short “public service” video vignettes which, among other things, promote casual sex, immodesty, homosexuality and even group sex.
More of what the AFA thinks
For example, one video on this new Web site depicts what appears to be an African-American male teenager relegated to performing oral sex on a white male teenager while another white male (an adult authority figure in a suit) stands nearby giving instructions.
During the 2006-2007 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood received a total of $336.7 million from government grants and contracts. In 2008, $300 million was given to family planning clinics, under the Title X program. These funds were used to service over five million people, a third of which received “care” from a Planned Parenthood clinic. This new Planned Parenthood Web site has again raised the necessity to put an end to the federal government’s funding of Planned Parenthood.
AFA’s response is typical…
Enter your zip code and click “GO” to send e-mails to your two U.S. senators and representative urging them stop using your tax dollars to fund Planned Parenthood and its promotion of casual sex among our nation’s youth with a Web site like www.takecaredownthere.org. Let Planned Parenthood be funded with public funds, not tax dollars.
The CWFA has this to say…
Planned Parenthood of America has launched a new campaign that takes teen sex information to a new low.
How can education be a new ‘low’? Fundies say ” no education is the right education!”
How else can youth today learn about this? Not in schools, not in church. I guess they’ll learn when the doctor tells them they have a disease they will have to live with the rest of their lives. Bad strategy AFA. Really bad. Since when is knowledge not power???
