We head back to NC on Sunday afternoon. It was a great but short trip to Bed-Stuy Brooklyn to see my relatives, and it was the first time my little  nephew Mr. E journeyed here to meet his NY relatives.

Outside of the much-important family time, we met PHB front pager Julien Sharp at Junior’s in Brooklyn on Friday (left), and a delightful stop to see Mike Signorile and his partner David on Saturday:

It was a nice visit — thanks to Eddie and Bee for hosting our crew this trip, and to my godmother Sandra for my birthday pound cake, that I hope folks will finish off since I can only take a few slices home to freeze. 🙂

* On Wednesday, Kate and I head out to Austin for Netroots Nation (formerly Yearly Kos). I’m on a terrifying panel, “Hot Topic” on Saturday at 10:30. Look at the description:

Five leading pundits/bloggers connect to discuss a late-breaking issue of universal relevance. Topic will be announced at Netroots Nation.

We won’t know what the topic is until we get there; thus no preparation whatsoever. How insane is this? What was I thinking, lol? Others readying for the shoe to drop are Jeffrey Feldman of Frameshop, Baratunde Thurston of Jack & Jill Politics, Kevin Drum of the Washington Monthly, and DKos contributor Hunter (Michael Lazzaro).

* On July 25-27, I’ll be in Atlanta at Blogging While Brown. It’s the inaugural conference for bloggers of color. You can see the blogs that will be represented here. And click here for the workshop lineup.

So what’s been going on? I’ve been offline quite a bit so I’ll probably have quite a bit of reading to do.
