Over the top: Christian Defense Coalition's appeal to Catholics

I’m tired of these unhinged bible-beaters spewing this beyond-the-pale garbage. What’s ironic is that Obama was recently in the news for appearing to equivocate on the issue of mental distress and the health of the mother regarding abortion rights.  The blast from the Christian Defense Coalition, however, held a press conference to proclaim that Barack Obama is “The Abortion President.”

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition:

“Senator Obama talks about bringing hope, faith and change to American politics. We now see this is all just political ‘doublespeak.’ One of his top priorities as President would be protecting abortion rights and even expanding them. If elected, Senator Obama would become ‘The Abortion President,’ with the most extremist policies on abortion of any President in history.

“Senator Obama’s views on abortion are so radical that he even wants American citizens to pay for them. This would include Catholics, Evangelicals and all people of faith. He would also expand abortion rights through his passionate support of The Freedom of Choice Act.

“The Christian Defense Coalition will be working diligently over the next 5 months before the November elections to educate people of faith, especially Catholics, that Barack Obama wants them to pay for abortions. This is not a candidate who is concerned about social justice, hope and equality. Rather, this is candidate who will continue the violence and pain of abortion and refuse to end this tragic war against America’s women and children.”

I suppose they support going back to the old coat hangers. Or perhaps they will tithe enough to open up homes  for unwed, expectant mothers. Somehow I don’t think adequate sex education to help prevent unplanned pregnacies is on their list of answers. Alas, the general election season has started and this is only the beginning.

But that’s not all that’s in the CDC handout — they go for the hat trick — the “Christian” organization joins Fred Barnes in calling for gay baiting on the marriage issue, and get this — even allusions to slavery are on the table. See those, and an incredible Uncle Sam graphic, below the fold. There’s also nothing like putting the image of a slave getting whipped or two men in tuxes as a cake topper to stir up the masses.
