“Federal appeals court says paper money discriminates against blind people”

from the Minneapolis StarTribune (free registration)

Finally this fight may come to an end for the blind in the US.  Virtually every other country has money that can easily be distinguished by touch.  Canada has plastic like inserts that help to differentiate the bills, Euros are sized differently based on denomination.

I have never understood why the US spent all that money redesigning the bills without making them accessible to the blind.

Congratulations to the American Council for the Blind in winning this court case.
