Every year British author Jeanette Winterson treats the readers of her website to an original Christmas story. This year's tale– The Lion, the Unicorn and Me–was just put up on the site. Telling ghost stories at Christmas is a tradition in England (Dicken's A Christmas Carol is, of course, the most famous). Winterson wrote The Snow Horse in 2005.
And my favorite– a re-telling of the classic Bluebeard story– is Winterson's The Mistletoe Bride from Christmas, 2002.
PS– If you check on http://rayrandomly.blogspot.com/ on Christmas Eve, I might have a little something of my own to share.
