2.jpgThe Blue America team have decided that we will not support any candidate who votes for the $50 billion extra for the war that George Bush is asking for (on top of the $147 billion already allocated). As Howie Klein notes, of the four Blue America candidates who have taken a position on it, all have said that they will not vote for it:

Steve Cohen (TN)
John Hall (NY)
Jerrold Nadler (NY)
Hilda Solis (CA)

We hope that everyone else will follow suit.

Working together liberal blogs raised over a hundred thousand dollars for Darcy Burner last weekend. It was an amazing effort driven by a strong desire to see progressive values pursued and the war ended. George Bush says there is not enough money to expand children’s health care coverage, he defies any attempt to hold him accountable for the money he has already squandered in Iraq even as more evidence of gross mismanagement and outright theft comes to light every day. He keeps banging the drums of war with Iran and expands the Overton window with nothing but hubris and malicious lies. We want to see the country led by decency and sanity and that does not mean capitulating to George Bush. If that is where a candidate wants to go, it is where we part ways.

Go Yankees.
