The United Nations Children’s Fund ran an unbelievably dumb ad campaign in Germany featuring blond children in blackface to bring the public’s attention to the education crisis in Africa.

“In Africa a lot of kids would be happy if they could be annoyed by school” or “in africa, many kids would be glad to worry about school”

[Translation corrected (thanks rupi3000, and johnnyleen); the source blog cited the wrong one with the above picture – P.]

The blog Black Women in Europe raised the roof on this, and there was an  “apology,” from Rudi Tarneden, Press Officer, German Committee for UNICEF:

We apologize if you feel irritated by the make up of the children.

Rod 2.0 has more.
