You folks in the Chicago area have $50 bucks to spare for The Peter? The coffers must be running a bit low at Americans For Truth Against Homosexuality, because he’s putting on a fundraising banquet — Celebrating Truth and the Freedom to Be Moral — on October 6. You can buy a table for 10 for $500.

At this special event, pro-family leaders will celebrate God’s power to transform men and women struggling with homosexuality; and expose the relentless attack on children’s innocence, parental rights and religious freedom by a “gay/transgender” lobby that seeks to discredit and silence the voice of faith in America.

One of the special guests is the publisher of a magazine now targeted to black (wannabe) ex-gays, Charlene Cothran, who, as The Peter says, “after her dramatic Christian conversion, retooled her Venus Magazine.” No comment.

I’d point you to the location, but one hasn’t been settled upon yet. A Silent Auction is scheduled for 6:00 PM. There may be leather items of interest available, I suppose.

Also, it appears that The Peter is not pleased with Jim Burroway of Box Turtle Bulletin, for the institution of the LaBarbera Award and its graphic (created by Daimeon), shown after the jump.

I think I’ll inaugurate a new award, called the LaBarbera Award. It will be awarded on an as-earned basis for the most outrageous, offensive, malevolent, crazy, excessive — you get the picture — statement or claim. (Paul Cameron is ineligible; otherwise nobody else would ever get a chance to win.) I thought about naming it for Fred Phelps, but he’s in a class all by himself.
