Libby Panel Shortly…And A Plea For Some Phone Calls

cremebrulee.jpgFinally arrived in Chicago yesterday evening after the world’s most frustrating stint in airport purgatory. (I could get a strong signal on the airport WiFi, just couldn’t get online due to a lack of space on the signal…arrrrrrgh…huge thank you to Phoenix Woman and the fabu mods for helping me out with the Tillman Hearing posts yesterday. We truly have the best mod folks on the planet.) Then had some hiccups on access when I got to the hotel — why is it never easy to log in on the road? — but it works fine now, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me! Now someone pass me some coffee, please…

Had dinner yesterday evening with Scarecrow and Egregious in a lovely french bistro named Bistro 110 in the Watertower area. Fantastic food — including an amazing creme brulee with fresh berries that we split between the three of us for dessert. Wonderful stuff. Wish you all could have been there! (And for the folks in Chicago for YKos, the restaurant was quite good — try the Tutu Pinot Grigio, if you want a good white wine. Hints of honeydew melon and apricot –nummy!)

Am headed out shortly for the Libby Liveblogging panel which begins at 9:30 am. Will be on the panel with Emptywheel, Jeralyn from TalkLeft and Sheldon Snook, the marvelous chief of staff to the Chief Judge of the U. S. District Court in DC, who coordinated all of the blogger and media relations for the Libby Trial. Will update everyone on the panel when I can — no idea what the connectivity at the convention center will be like but I’m hopeful…

In the meantime, the House passed the SCHIP bill yesterday. And it will go up for a vote in the Senate potentially today. If you can find some time to make calls to your Senators and ask them to support SCHIP — and health care for kids in at risk families — I would sure appreciate it. Here are some toll-free numbers you can use: (H/T to Katymine)

1 (800) 828 – 0498
1 (800) 459 – 1887
1 (800) 614 – 2803
1 (866) 340 – 9281
1 (866) 338 – 1015
1 (877) 851 – 6437

And this great post from Scarecrow gives you some excellent talking points and background information.
