Miami Beach mayoral candidate's 'Adam + Eve, not Adam + Steve' banner comes down
“I promise you, when I become mayor, we’re going to clean up all this funny business going on down there.”
— Bill Smatt, the Jamaica native who is referring to the gay and lesbian residents of Miami that he wants to drive out.
Local 10.com‘s Executive Producer Michelle Solomon emailed me today to say that there was an update on the nutcase running for mayor in Miami Beach who strung an oversized anti-gay banner over his front yard. He’s taken it down.
The Miami Beach resident who created a stir by hanging a banner that many have called homophobic and offensive has made his run for mayor official.
William Smatt, 76, filed his intentions Friday, according to the Miami Herald.
Smatt raised a large banner in front of his Alton Road home last week that read: “God created Adam + Eve, not Adam + Steve.” The city confirmed Friday that Smatt has taken the sign down, Local 10 learned.
