CommunityPam's House Blend marriage equality site launches

Twenty-six states have banned marriage for gays and lesbians by passing constitutional amendments, and a good number of them prohibit civil unions or any other legal protections for couples.

The ACLU has launched a web site,, that has personal stories of ten ordinary gay and lesbian couples who explain why they need all the protections and benefits that convey with civil marriage. The videos, produced by Public Interest,  can be viewed on the web site’s YouTube area. Here are two, on the left is the story of Octavia and Deborah; on the right, Dick and Bob.

This project is a joint campaign of the Equality Federation, Freedom to Marry, Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, Lambda Legal, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.
